BitDefender, an award-winning provider of security software and services, today releases a free removal tool against the new, polymorphic version of the virus BugBear – BugBear.B. BitDefender fix is the first able to CLEAN infected computers, thus stopping the virus fast distribution.

This version seems to be spreading tremendously, threatening to reach the fame of its predecessor (BugBear.A), which was the second most widespread virus in 2002, with thousands of infected systems reported at every hour.
Win32.Bugbear.B@mm is an Internet worm that spreads through e-mail and network shares, also qualified as a file-infector and backdoor. The worm uses a special social-engineering trap, so attachments, virus body and e-mail subject can be either selected from a predefined series or chosen from files or messages pre-existent on the infected system. Users should also be aware that the virus uses a common trick, faking the “From” and “Reply To” fields in the emails.

The free removal tool is available in four international languages (English, Spanish French and German) on the BitDefender websites.
