BitDefender Antivirus 2008 Receives Virus Bulletin 100% Certification

December 2007

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – December 12, 2007 – BitDefender®, a global provider of award-winning antivirus software and data security solutions, announced today that BitDefender Antivirus 2008 was awarded VB100% certification from Virus Bulletin for its ability to detect 100% of the viruses on the WildList. Tested by Virus Bulletin on Windows 2000, BitDefender’s powerful security solution was proven to be one of the most secure anti-virus solutions available.

BitDefender Antivirus 2008 provides state of the art proactive protection against viruses, spyware, phishing attacks, rootkits and more using BitDefender’s patent pending B-HAVE (Behavioral Heuristic Analyzer in Virtual Environments) technology. Additional features include a new Gamer mode which temporarily modifies protection settings for optimal gaming performance, hassle-free hourly updates and free 24/7 support.

The VB100% certification is recognized as one of the industry’s definitive guides for the performance of an antivirus product. The WildList Organization (http://www.wildlist.org) collects monthly virus reports from anti-virus experts around the world. The data from the reports is compiled to produce The WildList – a list of those viruses currently spreading throughout a diverse user population. A virus that is reported by two or more of the WildList reporters will appear in the top-half of the list and is deemed to be 'In the Wild'.

Virus Bulletin magazine tests the leading antivirus solutions against the viruses which appear in the ‘In the Wild’ list. Only those antivirus solutions that achieve full protection from these latest viruses are considered for the VB100% certification.

“We are very pleased at receiving yet another VB100% certification for BitDefender’s security software,” commented BitDefender CTO Bogdan Dumitru. “In addition to validating the power of BitDefender’s solutions to our customers, this Virus Bulletin certification is especially noteworthy as fewer than half of the 32 tested solutions received a certification.”
